SKK Mobile Kraken: The Most Affordable Octa Core Superphone Yet?

Well, this is interesting. News of the SKK Mobile Kraken has been circulating for a while now, but it’s only recently that they’ve decided to tease anything more detailed about the specs and price. Check out this image from their last Facebook post.

SKK Mobile Kraken

The SKK Mobile Kraken will feature a 5 inch FWVGA IPS display coupled with a 1.7GHz octa core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8GB ROM. Also, it will only come with an 8mp rear-facing camera and 5mp front camera to cover your imaging needs.

The rest of the specs are to be expected from just about any other Android smartphone these days. You get 3G connectivity, WiFI, Bluetooth and a micro SD slot. It will also be powered by a 2,000mAh battery and run Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

As you can see, the SKK Mobile Kraken cuts quite a few corners in order to possibly keep the price down. Most of the other octa core phones from budget brands have at least a 5 inch Full HD screen and 16GB ROM. In which case, we might even see the Kraken go below Php10k.

The compromise in specs may seem drastic, especially when it comes to the screen. Since there are fewer pixels to process, the SKK Kraken might even be snappier and more responsive when it comes to gaming and overall UI navigation.

While SKK Mobile has started teasing the Kraken as the most affordable octa core phone in the market yet, they have yet to reveal the actual price. Hopefully, it will be worth the compromises to the specs. They might possibly have a huge hit on their hands.
