Vivo X3 is the World’s Thinnest Phone, For Now…

Just this year, I’ve already counted three phones that have taken the crown for world’s thinnest phone. The current title holder is the Huawei Ascend P6, which is just 6.18mm thick, but the Vivo X3 is looking to take the title with a thickness of just 5.75mm! It’s no slouch either. There’s more to this phone than its sleek and elegant body.

The Vivo X3 sports a 5 inch HD IPS display with a 1.5GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589T processor and overclocked PowerVR SGX544 GPU. It also features an 8mp autofocus rear-facing camera and 5mp front camera to cover all of your basic imaging needs. The most impressive part? It manages to fit a 2,000mAh battery within whatever limited space it has to provide enough juice to last a day.

Interestingly enough, the Vivo X3 has a few more tricks up its sleeve. It supports a number of gesture-based interactions that allow you to launch specific apps or interact the phone with just a swipe or two of the screen. It also has Xtudio mobile recording software for producing music and even comes equipped with the ES9018 by ESS Technology, which is considered to be one of the best digital to analog converter chips you can get.

The Vivo X3 is set to go on sale on September 21 in China at a price that is roughly equivalent to $410. While BBK, the company that makes the Vivo X3, doesn’t have a presence here, it would be exciting if one of the local phone brands decided to license it and sell it here. Cherry Mobile, MyPhone, Cloudfone, are you listening?
