Shortly after announcing the new RedMi brand, Chinese smartphone maker XiaoMi revealed a brand new device: the XiaoMi HongMi 1s. The XiaoMi HongMi 1s succeeds the original HongMi, although there aren’t many differences. You’re still getting a 4.7 inch Full HD IPS screen and a quad core processor. However this time, the SoC that will be powering the XiaoMi HongMi 1s is the 1.6Ghz quad core Snapdragon 400.
Other specs include an Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. There’s also an 8mp camera on the back and 1.6mp camera up front. Finally, the HongMi 1s will sport a 2,000mAh battery and run Android 4.3 out of the box.
If you’re looking to get your hands on the XiaoMi HongMi 1s, you’ll have to pre-order it from China for a sweet price of 799 yuan or roughly less than Php6,000. However, the recent announcement of the RedMi brand for international markets could mean we might be seeing more XiaoMi handsets hit Philippine shores, including the HongMi 1s.
Of course, I certainly don’t expect it to retain the HongMi name or that sub-Php6k pricing. More likely, it will be marketed as the RedMi 2 and would go for around Php7.6k, but that still isn’t a bad price for a quad core device with Full HD screen, right?
