If you’re a proud Xiaomi Mi 4 owner and would like to upgrade to a Windows Phone, you don’t have to! In case you missed it, Xiaomi had previously partnered with Microsoft, and months after, the relationship is bearing fruit. By tomorrow, December 3, Mi 4 owners will be able to flash an official Windows 10 ROM on their phones.
To be honest, it isn’t clear to me why Xiaomi is taking this direction since they already invest a large amount of time and money into their own MIUI. Compared to stock ROMs from the likes of LG, Samsung, or any other big-name manufacturer, MIUI has been a favorite of mine simply because it seemed to be more community-driven with features that meet the demands of actual users. With the distraction that is developing for Windows 10, it seems like an unnecessary endeavor.
Still, choice is a good thing and if you’re an experienced flasher, there should be no problem changing back to your Mi 4’s stock room in case you don’t like the Windows 10 ROM. If you had a Mi 4, does the idea of having Windows 10 on your phone appeal to you or would you rather stick to Android? Let me know in the comments!
