I’ve always been a fan of transformable tablets that came with keyboards for enhanced productivity on the go. Alas, I can’t afford any of the tablets from the ASUS Transformer line, but the budget-minded brand Archos has given me a bit of hope with what should be an affordable Archos 101 XS 2. A what?
Funky alphanumeric naming scheme aside, the Archos 101 XS 2 is a 10.1 inch Android tablet with a quad core processor running Jelly Bean 4.2. The resolution is quite impressive at 2056 x 1530 for a crazy sharp pixel density of 295ppi, although the bezels are comically wide for today’s standards. Also, it doesn’t quite transform the way ASUS Transformer tablets do. Rather, the keyboard actually functions as a magnetic cover that you can take off and place flat on a table. The tablet part of the Archos 101 XS 2 is then placed on top of the keyboard cover and propped up by a stand.
No other information regarding specs or pricing has been released at the moment as this was just a teaser for when Archos officially launches their lineup of tablets and phones at IFA 2013. Hopefully it won’t be too expensive when it gets here. This one has me really excited 🙂
