Cherry Mobile MAIA Pad Plus Quietly Unveiled With Better Screen and Processor

The original Cherry Mobile MAIA Pad

If you thought the original MAIA Pad was a little lacking, I wouldn’t blame you. It was a serviceable enough tablet, but the subpar screen and processor didn’t do much for the overall user experience. That’s why the quietly unveiled Cherry Mobile MAIA Pad Plus may be more to your liking. It sports many of the same specs as its predecessor, but improves on the most important aspects: screen, processor, and cameras.

Whereas the first MAIA Pad came with a washed out 7 inch WSVGA screen, the MAIA Pad Plus now comes with an IPS panel. This makes it a much better tablet for browsing through images, surfing the net, or playing games. The processor has also gotten a boost from a dual core to a quad core Intel Atom X3 processor. Likewise, the camera setup has been improved to give the MAIA Pad a 5mp shooter on the back and a 2mp camera on the front.

Interestingly, the pricing remains the same at just Php2,999. No news yet if Cherry Mobile will be phasing out the original MAIA Pad and keeping the MAIA Pad Plus, or if will simply get a price drop. Unless the MAIA Pad really gets a drastic price drop, I’d recommend the MAIA Pad Plus any time.
