Evo Litepad 8

It’s easy to get lost in the wave of 8 inch iPad Mini-esque tablets that has been flooding the local market. For a tablet to really stand out, you have to offer super competitive specs with rock-bottom pricing. The Evo Litepad 8 is one of the closest to that ideal, combining a snappy quad core processor with a decent screen and internals for just Php6k!

So what do you get for that kind of money? The Evo Litepad 8 features a 7.85 inch XGA IPS display with a pixel density of 163ppi. It’s driven by a 1.2GHz quad core Allwinner processor coupled with 1GB RAM. You’re also getting ample 16GB storage, a 4,000mAh battery, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Other key specs include a 2mp main camera and VGA front camera. There’s also WiFi, Bluetooth and USB-OTG support. If you’re looking to get the Evo Lightpad 8, it’s only available through Kimstore at the moment for Php5,999. Keep in mind though that it doesn’t have 3G. If it’s 3G functionality you’re looking for, the Qube Quadcore Phonetab is worth checking out at Php6,999. It only has 8GB storage, but the 3G connectivity more than makes up for it.

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.

Well it seems adding HDMI without blowing up the price can be done after all. Are you listening Starmobile, Cloudfone???
