While there have been quite a few call and text tablets from local brands, most of them have been in the 7 to 8 inch range. Breaking the trend is SKK Mobile, which recently unveiled the SKK Mobile Extreme, a 10 inch dual SIM tablet with call and text functionality. It even has a built in TV tuner!
Under the hood, it’s pretty basic though. The SKK Mobile Extreme is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor coupled with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It also has dual cameras (5mp rear, VGA front), 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS, not to mention a 6,000mAh battery to power the tablet. Finally, it runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and sells for Php6,999.
Admittedly, the specs are kind of circa late 2012, but if you want a large screen tablet for the price of an 8 incher and aren’t too choosy about image quality, the SKK Mobile Extreme is worth a look.
