Xiaomi Mi Pad is Officially Revealed With Nvidia Tegra K1 Under the Hood

Xiaomi Mi Pad

Xiaomi has been carving a name for itself as an up and coming phone manufacturer, but there’s been one thing that’s been missing from its resume: a killer tablet. Well, they can now check that off their list of to-do’s because the premium Chinese phone manufacturer has just recently unveiled the Xiaomi Mi Pad, an attractive yet powerful piece of hardware that shouldn’t put a serious dent in your budget.

Xiaomi Mi Pad Viewing Angle

First off, the Xiaomi Mi Pad features a 7.9 inch 2K display with a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536. To put things in perspective, that’s an eye-bleeding 324ppi stretched out across that display. Normally, that’s a pixel density that I’ve associated with phones, but not necessarily tablets quite yet.

Another thing that’s sure to make gadget enthusiasts go ga-ga over the Xiaomi Mi Pad is that it’s got an Nvidia Tegra K1 processor running under the hood. The Tegra K1 chip is awesome, combining a quad core Cortex A15 processor clocked at 2.2GHz with an additional low-power companion core, not to mention a Kepler GPU with a whopping 192 cores. And the Xiaomi Mi Pad just so happens to be the first device to be powered by the Tegra K1 since it was announced in January. Other specs include 2GB RAM, 16/64GB of internal storage, an 8mp rear camera, 5mp front camera, and a 6,700mAh battery.\

The Mi Pad will run Xiaomi’s custom MIUI skin on top of Android 4.4.2 KitKat. For now, a release date has only been announced for China, where they’ll start seeing it on sale for the equivalent of $240 for the 16GB version and $270 for the 64GB version some time in June. Hopefully, the Xiaomi Mi Pad will eventually start rolling out to other territories and the premium Chinese phone manufacturer finally makes its way here to the Philippines.
