Gionee Elife E6 With Full HD AMOLED Screen Launched in India, Philippines is Next on October 10

Gionee Elife E6

Back when the Micromax Canvas 4 (aka same OEM device as the MyPhone Vortex) was officially announced in India, many were disappointed that it didn’t come with a Full HD screen. At about the same time, there was another upcoming phone that was making waves despite not having been launched yet. That phone was the Gionee Elife E6, and some considered the Elife E6 to be good competition for the Canvas 4, especially since it had the Full HD screen that the Canvas 4 lacked. Fast forward to today and the Gionee Elife E6 has only just been launched in India, with the Philippines to get it shortly after it is officially launched here on October 10.

So what’s so great about the Elife E6? As mentioned, it features a Full HD OGS AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 441ppi. The AMOLED screen should be capable of producing punchy colors while the OGS should bring the actual display layer closer to the surface, resulting in even better clarity and slightly improved viewing angles.

The Gionee Elife E6 will also be powered by some pretty decent hardware, namely a 1.5GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589T processor, overclocked PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 2GB RAM and 32GB of non-expandable storage. Imaging will be handled by dual cameras (13mp BSI autofocus rear camera, 5mp front camera), while the battery capacity is rated at 2,020mAh. It will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Gionee’s Amigo UI layer running on top.

Save for the battery, the specs are pretty impressive, but a lot of thought has gone into the design as well. The unibody design of the Elife E6 is only 6.18mm thick (the Huawei Ascend P6 is 6.2mm thick!) and weighs just 128g. No word on Philippine pricing yet, but in India, the E6 retails for Rs22,999 or roughly Php16k. For the specs, it’s justifiable if rather steep, but taxes are different in India and hopefully the price will get knocked down a notch when it gets launched here. NoypiGeeks.com (who I write for) will be in attendance on October 10 and will hopefully be able to grab a review unit there.

  1. Wow, it will make a head on collision with THL W8s which Novo7 Philippines is distributing, having a pricetag of 12,495. I think the design of the Gionee Elife E6 is better plus its AMOLED display. And if it will be on the same price range (a little higher won’t hurt) , I may be looking at my next phone. Thanks sir JM!

  2. I think I already spotted this phone on display somewhere here in Cainta. They sell Gionee phones and this one is on spotlight. 🙂

          1. Its in 3rd Floor, Sta Lucia East Grand Mall. I’m not sure which store but I think it’s Gadget King.
