Okay, so Gionee may have lost the title for having the world’s slimmest smartphone, but it still has a pretty damn good follow up to the previous title holder, the Elife S5.5. The new slimmest phone from Gionee, the Elife S5.1 is exactly that, 5.5mm thin. It features a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
Of course, one of the other features, a proper 3.5mm audio jack may not exactly be the spec most people look for in a smartphone, but it’s one that you might end up missing if you go any thinner than the Gionee Elife S5.1. Oppo’s own phone R5 had to ditch the audio jack when slimming down to achieve a crazy thin 4.85mm thinness before it too got beaten.
The last time I had to use an audio plug adapter was when I was using a Samsung Star. The adapters kept on breaking on me and I ended up buying a new one every month. Anyway, lesson learned. I’d rather stick to a good old audio jack if it doesn’t have to be compromised.
