Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Upgrades to HD Screen Over Predecessor

The original Galaxy Grand was a huge success in Asian markets, but the 5 inch WVGA screen left a lot to be desired. It is in the opinion of this humble writer that WVGA has no place on devices with screens larger than 4.5 inches. Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, which is a refresh to that popular model, has a much better screen over its predecessor along with some better internals.

The Galaxy Grand 2 bumps up the screen size to 5.25 inches and now sports HD resolution at 720 x 1280, giving you a much better pixel density of 280ppi. This is coupled with a 1.5GHz quad core processor with 1.5GB RAM for enhanced multitasking along with 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 64GB via micro SD. Imaging is handled by an 8mp rear-facing autofocus camera with flash and a 1.9mp front camera that’s capable of recording HD video.

You also get dual SIM functionality with data speeds maxing out at 3.5G/HSPA+ while the battery has been upgraded to 2,600mAh versus the 2,100mAh battery of the original Galaxy Grand. Those of you hoping for a KitKat phone will be disappointed though as it comes out of the box with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. No news yet on pricing and availability, but it will be available in black, white and pink variants.
