If you catch the popular noontime show Eat Bulaga everyday, you should already know that one of their sponsors is O+ USA, a budget phone brand that is itself quite popular here. Well, if you were catching yesterday’s show, you may have noticed Paolo Ballesteros showcasing the new O+ 8.16 smartphone with its massive 5.7 inch HD display. Curious about O+ USA’s newest flagship?
The O+ 8.16 features a massive 5.7 inch HD IPS panel and sports a 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589 quad core processor coupled with the PowerVR SGX 544 GPU. It also comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and dual cameras (13mp autofocus rear, 2mp front). Naturally, it comes with a full range of wireless connectivity options: 3.5G/HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and dual SIM functionality.
Of course, being an O+ phone, the O+ 8.16 comes with their popular set of smart features, including their famous Air Shuffle, which allows you to navigate within the Music app, Gallery, Camera and FM Radio by just waving in front of the screen. There’s also a “flip to silent” feature that instantly turns off the ring of an incoming call by just flipping the phone over. You can even shake the phone to answer a call or end it.
If you’re looking to grab the O+8.16, it’s priced at Php12,999. Ordinarily, I would have found this to be a great value. However, the recently revealed Omega HD 2X put a damper on that. Still, O+ USA has a better reputation when it comes to customer support so if that’s something you factor in when buying a phone, the O+ 8.16 is still worth considering.
