When it comes to local phone brands, Starmobile wants to be the go-to brand for affordable camera-centric smartphones. Many of their smartphones have brought newer camera innovations to relatively low price points, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that their upcoming smartphone should do the same thing.
According to a recently posted teaser, the upcoming smartphone will feature a 12mp BSI camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens. Now, BSI sensors aren’t anything new to our locally-branded smartphones. However it’s the part about the f/2.0 aperture lens that should catch your attention.
Aperture size affects an image’s depth of field, and the lower the f-stop number, the better. To put things into perspective, the iPhone 5S and Nokia Lumia 1020 both have f/2.2 aperture lens while the HTC One (2013) and Sony Xperia Z1 both have f/2.0 lens. So if Starmobile can bring such a lens into a smartphone that doesn’t break the bank, I’m all for it 🙂
