Huawei Mediapad X1: 7 Inch Tablets Can’t Possibly Get Any Smaller Than This!

Huawei Mediapad X1

When I first saw the renders for the Huawei Mediapad X1, I thought I was seeing a phone. The bezels were just so thin, making the device appear as if it were a phone, not a tablet. Yet as I read on, a 7 inch tablet was revealed to me with all the bells and whistles, including full call/text functionality and LTE connectivity!

The Huawei Mediapad X1’s face reminds me of an iPhone without the home button. The bezels on either side of the 7 inch Full HD display are impressively thin for a tablet, and there’s an earpiece above the screen so you can take calls the way you would any normal smartphone. There’s also a 13mp camera on the back and a 5mp camera up front. Also, it’s powered by an in-house 1.6GHz HiSilicon Kirin 910 quad core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. The kicker is probably that it also has support for LTE Cat 4!

The Huawei Mediapad X1 will initially be available in select markets, namely China, Russia, Western Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Latin America. No news when it will eventually roll out to other markets, assuming it will roll out at all. Still, the Mediapad X1 is definitely something I’d look forward to if the price was right.
