Update: Cherry Mobile has just released the official Cherry Mobile Thunder spec list. Just scroll down to the bottom of this post or check out the source link 🙂
A few days ago, Edriangelo Doctolero Paule posted a leak on a Flare user group that I follow about Cherry Mobile’s upcoming phones (check them out here, here and here). Today, one of them just got confirmed: it’s the Cherry Mobile Thunder! The Thunder is another budget Android phone with a 4.5 inch FWVGA screen, 1GHz dual core CPU and Android 4.0 out of the box. The best part? It will only retail for Php4,999!
Nothing much was revealed about the specs of the Cherry Mobile Thunder today. In fact, Edriangelo’s photos of the Thunder on a leaked flyer that’s yet to be released gave us much more information about the upcoming smartphone. Aside from the above specs, it will also come with dual cameras (5mp main), 4Gb ROM and dual SIM functionality. It will also support the kind of wireless connectivity that you would expect of today’s smartphones: Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and 3G. These are all we know about the specs for now, but Cherry Mobile has promised to post the complete specification on their blog tomorrow.
Another thing that’s interesting about the Thunder and the way Cherry Mobile will be handling its initial release is that it won’t be immediately available via their official kiosks or any other authorized dealer. Instead, it will be a Lazada exclusive for a week starting from February 9 where you can have it delivered right to your doorstep instead of waiting in line for up to four frigging hours the way I did back with the Flare.
This might not be a bad idea since Cherry Mobile won’t have to worry about running out in some of their stalls while having too much stock somewhere else. Lazada would be able to handle the logistics and make it that much easier to get your hands on the Cherry Mobile Thunder. This will also benefit Lazada of course, encouraging more people to take advantage of the ease and convenience of shopping online. If this joint venture proves successful, this might be the way that Cherry Mobile will handle the release of the two remaining phones: the Burst and the Titan TV.

I thought this was a more clarified specs list. Nothing of much importance was added nor clarified compared to the leaked specs list. What mattered to me most is what processor and GPU it uses. Dual core it is, but I personally prefer Snapdragon and Adreno respectively.
Older Adrenos are a bit buggy in games though. The Alcatel Insight 993D and CM Flare use the Adreno 200 and 203 respectively, and both exhibited a lot of ghosting in Dead Trigger. The Blaze on the other hand uses a PowerVR SGX531 GPU, and it performed better in the same game, despite being circa 2006.
Sounds promising. I’ll hava a look. Thanks for the heads up!
sir, kelan full review mo nito? 😀
2 weeks pa po at most. Madameng kailangan kalikutin eh, tpos isisingit pa sa work 😛
akala ko po ba 4499 to? itong cherry thunder?
Hi, Php4999 po yung CM Thunder nung una syang lumabas. Since madami na din naglabasan na bago from CM, binabaan na po ang price ng Thunder.
