While the Samsung Galaxy Note Neo wasn’t expected to be a flagship device, it’s certainly been the center of enough rumors to make you think that it was. Now, at the very least, it’s official and it’s got some very interesting specs and features.
The Galaxy Note Neo looks almost exactly like the more powerful Galaxy Note 3 even down to the faux leather back. It features a similarly-sized 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display and has close to the same dimensions as its more powerful namesake brother, measuring 148 x 76.9 x 8.6mm.
However, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo’s specs are actually more in line with the Galaxy Note 2. The display rocks a 720 x 1280 resolution, 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. The LTE variant does offer a more interesting chipset in the form of Samsung’s new hexa-core Exynos chipset with two 1.7GHz Cortex A-15 cores for heavier tasks and four 1.3GHz Cortex A-7 cores for less intensive tasks. The non-LTE variant will be powered by a quad core 1.6GHz chip, but the make hasn’t been revealed yet.
Of course, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo can’t properly be called a Galaxy Note series phone without the S-Pen and accompanying software that’s been optimized for stylus-based input. There’s Air Command Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window, S Note, Multi Window, new Easy Clip, and Direct Pen Input along with much of everything else that we’ve already seen on the Galaxy Note 3.
Pricing and availability hasn’t been announced yet, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo will have a global roll out with the only two markets not getting it being the US and the UK. Hopefully, it won’t be too expensive, although the specs say otherwise.
