In case you didn’t catch yesterday’s story of @evleaks revealing the possibility of a Windows Phone phablet, you should know that Nokia has been rumored to be in the works on such a device, codenamed “Bandit”. Then just recently, @evleaks revealed that the Bandit would be called the Nokia Lumia 1520 at launch, however aside from the name, the reliable tipster revealed nothing else in the form of specs or anything else to that effect. Well, now it seems that a leaked side-by-side photo showing the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1020 has been circulating the interwebz, giving an idea of just how large the Windows Phone phablet will be.
While leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt, there are a lot of clues that indicate that the above image, courtesy of WPCentral.com, is authentic. The front panel matches an image of what is supposed to be the same panel from a leak back in January (check source link). The Nokia logo and sensor locations line up closely with January’s leaked image and the proto.nokia.com etching at the bottom of the display is standard across all Nokia prototypes.
Windows Phone has been late to the phablet craze, although they did come close a few times with phones that didn’t quite make the mandatory 5″ mark that is required for a phone to be considered a phablet. Now, it’s only fitting that Nokia be the first to come out with one in the form of the Lumia 1520, seeing as the Finnish brand is so deeply invested in the Windows Phone platform. With all the other Android-running phablets out there, would you consider buying the Nokia Lumia 1520 or any other Windows Phone 8 phablet?
